War over Oude IJsselstreek: Heelweg

June 1944. How the resistance in Aalten saves the life of one aircrew, who survived the crash of a Lancaster from North Killingholme near Heelweg. A reconstruction of his journey to freedom.

Roy Kay is able to pick up his life in his home land England eventually. He pushes back his experiences and never talks about it. He dies in 2009. His widow only hears in 2015 what went on and visits the crash site just before her death. The circle closes. Six aircrew die. Five Englishmen and a Canadian, buried at the General Cemetery in Varsseveld.
